Two women, two lives, one awesome journey

Long before there was an app, a business, online workouts, a million IG reels, or the two of us trying to figure out what the hell we were doing next, there were two women teaching fitness in Brooklyn. 🗽🔥

Before there was awesome 🗽

We met 10 years ago at a popular neighborhood hot yoga studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Natalie was already that instructor. Her classes were always packed. People would finish class, walk straight to the front desk, and sign up for the next one just to make sure they got a spot.

She was effortlessly cool, naturally funny, and the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. She had a way of making teaching look easy—and she was really, really good at it.

She even had a cool cat named Pina. 🐈‍⬛

She was also just starting to date Claude. And together, they were kind of the quintessential cool Brooklyn couple. 😎

Siobhan was the newer instructor—newly certified, finding her voice, figuring out her sequencing, and pretty much glued to her notes. 😂

She was also a brand-new mom of twins—kids four and five—navigating life with five kids in New York, coming out of the baby blues, and trying to find her footing in a life that had changed almost overnight.

She had just lost the baby weight after a wild pregnancy, but the bigger transformation was happening underneath it all. She was figuring out who she was now—not just as a mother, but as a woman, too.

Teaching gave her a place to create, grow, move, and reconnect with herself. 🧘‍♀️

Natalie was the lead instructor, mentoring some of the newer teachers—including Siobhan. When she invited a few of them to join her for CPR/AED certification, Siobhan jumped at the opportunity.

A chance to get certified and hang out with Natalie? Win-win. 😂

Their first “date.”

And the rest, as they say, is history. ❤️

Getting a little more awesome ✨

We started taking each other’s classes. We talked. We laughed. We became friends—and before long, we were creating together.

Around that same time, Natalie created Make Me Awesome.

It was her idea, her passion, and her way of bringing together fitness, wellness, and the bigger picture of creating a life that felt good—not just looking good.

She created a 30-day Make Me Awesome challenge, and obviously Siobhan had to join. LOL

And apparently she was pretty good at awesoming up her life… because she took first place. 😂🏆

But the challenge became about more than winning.

It was another piece of the friendship that was taking shape—and another glimpse of what Make Me Awesome could become.

Then life did what life does.

It changed everything.

Then COVID happened 🌀

When COVID hit, the world got weird very quickly.

Siobhan was locked down alone in Brooklyn with five kids.

Natalie was in Vermont with her family. While Claude was isolating in Brooklyn.

We were in different states, dealing with completely different versions of the same uncertainty—and trying to figure out how to stay connected, sane, and moving through it all.

So we turned to Zoom. 💻

And we worked out together.

At first, the workouts were an hour. Then we started making them shorter.

Thirty minutes was the sweet spot.

We realized we had the skillset to kick each other’s butts in 30 minutes. 😈 We could make a workout hard, effective, and efficient without needing a full hour—and we were getting stronger, physically and mentally, because of it.

That changed everything.

We stopped thinking we needed more time. We just needed to make the time we had count.🤯

Thirty minutes could happen between the kids, the work, and the chaos. It didn’t require perfect conditions or a wide-open schedule. It just required us to show up, push each other, and move.

And preferably laugh while doing it. 😂

Enter: Team Awesome 🦸‍♀️🦸🏻‍♀️🦸🏾‍♂️

It was during those months of Zoom workouts, distance, uncertainty, and a whole lot of figuring things out that Natalie asked Siobhan to join forces and become part of Make Me Awesome.

What started as Natalie’s creation was becoming something the two of us could build together.

And somewhere in there, Wonder Nat 🦸🏼‍♀️ and Super Siobhan 🦸🏻‍♀️ were born—the superhero versions of ourselves who somehow make a little more sense of the chaos.

And who could forget Claudeman 🦸🏿‍♂️ and the legendary Claudacious🕺

And that’s really where the next chapter began. 💫

More than a workout 💪

Those workouts became so much more than workouts.

They kept us connected.

They fed our souls.

They burned our asses. 🍑🔥

And somewhere in all those Zoom workouts, we started to understand something we still believe today:

When you move with other people, there’s an energy you share. A connection that goes beyond words.

That became a big part of what Make Me Awesome was—and still is.

Not perfection.

Not punishment.

Not finding another thing to add to an already impossible to-do list.

Just movement that fits into real life.

New cities, new chapters 🌎

In 2020, as the world slowly began to reset into its new normal, our lives took very different turns.

Siobhan moved to Chicago with her kids to begin life as a single mom, where she happily lives today—proudly adding soccer mom to her resume. ⚽️😂

Natalie returned to Brooklyn, where she married Claude and began building their family—the family and the Brooklyn life they’re still living today. ❤️

Two women. Two cities. Two very different chapters.

But somehow, Make Me Awesome kept us connected. ✨

A lot has changed 🌪️

And wow… has life changed.

Our kids are older.

Our families got bigger (Natalie’s that is - NOT Siobhan’s 😝)

Our business has changed.

Our schedules have changed.

Our seasons of motherhood have changed.

Our seasons of womanhood have changed.

There have been beautiful things. Hard things. Unexpected things. Things we never would have planned for ourselves.

Natalie’s family has entered a completely different season since Calliope’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. There has been a steep learning curve, a lot of emotions, and plenty of “Okay…how do we do this?” moments. ❤️

For Siobhan, there have been some big shifts around work and home, too—letting go of unhealthy environments and personal chapters that no longer felt right, reshaping her teaching schedule, and figuring out what a new path of balance looks like while being there for five kids at very different stages of life.

Different lives.

Different challenges.

Different seasons.

But somehow, the thread is still there.

What hasn’t changed ❤️

Our shared love of movement is what brought our paths together.

But somewhere along the way, we became so much more than two women who happened to teach yoga at the same studio.

We became family.

Women supporting women. Collaborators. Entrepreneurs. Fitness app developers. Content creators. Social media influencers.

And let’s be honest—we are really freaking good at making reels. 😎

Through every version of our lives, we’ve kept finding our way back to each other. The movement has changed. The workouts have changed. Our lives have definitely changed.

But the connection never did.

Maybe that’s why we’re still here.

Still creating. Still moving. Still figuring it out.

Together.

Because a lot has changed.

But one thing hasn’t.

We still believe making your life a little more awesome doesn’t have to be complicated.

It can be an hour-long workout. Or 30 minutes. Or five.

It can be showing up for yourself when absolutely nothing else is going according to plan.

Or calling your friend, getting on Zoom, grabbing a resistance band, and burning your ass for 20 minutes while laughing about life. 😂

Sometimes, that’s enough.

And honestly, we’ll take that kind of awesome any day.

Here’s to new seasons, new chapters, and continuing to make life a little more awesome along the way. ✨

We have a feeling there’s a lot of good stuff ahead. 💫

❤️ Your favorite AwesMoms,
Nat & Siobhán
